The LA19 Natterjacks Conservation Archive is a living record of Annaside’s rare natterjack toads, their coastal habitat, and the people who have helped observe, record and protect them over many decades.
It brings together field notes, photographs, specialist visits, historic references, local knowledge and habitat records from Little Annaside, Hyton Marsh and the surrounding coastal landscape.

Historical Natterjack Records at Annaside
Historical records from the early 1980s document natterjack toad breeding at Annaside.
An additional report from 1981 describes a field visit on 6 July and records observations from the Bolger family, including natterjack spawning in a flood pool on Little Annaside Lane and hundreds of toadlets in the surrounding area.
An accompanying hand-drawn map identifies the location of the flood pool.
Family photographs from 1983 provide a further record of natterjacks mating and spawning in standing water on the lane.
